When designing Michigan southern Charm I knew I wanted this to be a business that helped make a difference by doing what I love. Rescue is a huge part of my life and something that I am truly passionate about. A few years ago I came across an AWFUL, AWFUL video of a festival in China called the Yulin Festival where they take animals from their homes or off the street and torture, scare, abuse, skin, and boil dogs and cats alive for pleasure. After seeing this horrible video it lit a fire in me to help raise awareness of animal abuse and find a way to make it stop. The truth is there are millions of animals in shelters around the world today and the worst part is most don’t make it out alive. Millions of innocent animals just trying to find their fur-ever home.
When I was looking to get a dog i knew I wanted one from a shelter. A dog that nobody wanted because they were too old. Eventually I came across Bo & Boo. Not only were my babies severely abused by their passed owners but they both were on the list to be euthanized. Now looking back I don’t know who saved who. These two have brought so much joy into my life and it breaks my heart to see people abusing their animals or abandoning them. It’s something I will never understand.
